Important Notes:

• Please update your IMAP/POP settings for mobile devices and mail clients. View email documentation.
• If you have an ADMNET account, your password must be changed/reset every 6 months.
• MacOS users please reboot and update your local account password settings for your new password to take full effect.

Password Requirements:

• Your password must be 8-15 characters.
• It must contain at least one uppercase letter, lowercase letter and number.
• It may NOT contain first name, last name or NetID.
• It may NOT contain the word "Oakland" or any season (e.g., "Spring", "Summer").
• It cannot be the same as your previous passwords.

Tips for Creating a Secure Password:

• Use special characters (!@#$%^&*) in your password.
• Create a unique acronym.
• Make your password unique (use a different password than your other accounts).

Things to Avoid:

• Don't use a password that contains personal information (name, birth date, etc.).
• Don't use keyboard patterns (asdf) or sequential numbers (1234).
• Don't use repeating characters (aa11).

Tips for Keeping your Password Secure:

• Never tell your password to anyone.
• Never send your password by email.
• Change your password every 90 days.
• Use a trusted password manager (e.g., LastPass, 1Password, etc.).
